The only thing that needs to be flexible for Yoga is your mind

My classes are guided by the belief that students reap the most rewards when encouraged to practice in a way that respects their own body. I offer thorough instruction and weave through philosophy, relaxation and meditation. My mantra is 'slow and strong' – you’ll work hard but we take our time and practice mindfully. We also have fun! All are welcome. If you can breathe you can practice Yoga.

My aim is to help you:

  • Learn more about yourself and your body

  • Build functional strength, flexibility and mobility and a practice that serves you for life

  • Understand how you can take your Yoga off the mat and into your life

  • Build an understanding, respect and love for your own body

  • Explore your internal experience, ask questions and play

  • Feel empowered, safe and supported

My yoga philosophy

Here’s my rant about Yoga. When I’m at a social gathering and someone tells me "you must be really flexible", this is where I send them.

Yoga is a journey and a destination. Yes, I used the word ‘journey’. It is a state of being and a constant practice where we unlearn and peel away all that isn't serving us. The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word for yoke or union - it’s a state of inner peace and wellbeing inherent within each and every one of us. 

The physical practice of Yoga is what I prefer to call mindful movement or self-awareness through movement. It’s not a workout, it’s not about flexibility, downward dogging or standing on your head. It’s about what you learn on the way there. It is a chance to get to know yourself. There’s a wonderful Buddhist Zen saying about how the way a person does one thing is the way they do everything. We learn how we do things on the mat.

Cost: Casual class $17.50. 

Bookings can't be made in advance, so please arrive 15 minutes beforehand to secure your place.
